amluckie tea plantation
« on: Thursday 13 December 12 16:51 GMT (UK) »
my great grandmothers cousin Andrew Chrystall, born about 1867 in scotland at some point went to Assam, India where he was on the amluckie tea plantation. His father had shares in this company. I am about to send for his will which was resealed in singapore but proved in london.

Andrew died in 1937 in Famagusta, Cyprus. I would love to find out more, so sending for his will is a starting point. If it was resealed in Singapore can i access it from the usual place i.e york probate (or leeds I think it is now)

Also, I have googled the amluckie tea company but havent had much luck except for a link to the amluckie investment company so any info anyone may have would be really helpful.

Andrew did return to England as in 1937 his address was in Wimbledon.

A task for the christmas period I think

My great aunt Edith was married to Andrew Chrystall and lived in Assam. They divorced soon after and had no children. I am in possession of photos of them both and an album showing moments of their life in India. These have been passed down by her younger sister.

The Times (London, England), Tuesday, Oct 17, 1911;
MARRIAGES
CHRYSTALL - TAIT .- On the 14th inst. at Church of St John's Notting Hill London by Rev. Neville Dundas, ANDREW CHRYSTALL, tea planter, Amluckie Assan, India to EDITH MARGUERITE [Doonte] eldest daughter of James Geddes Tait, M.R.C.V.S  of St Albans, Christchurch, Hants.

There is also another article to do with his estate, just asking if anyone has any claims to it to apply.

I have kept both, the above, and the estate article on the off chance yous may like a copy.
