parents of John Ede COMPLETED WITH THANKS

Ann and Hannah are often interchangeable names in my experience so there is probably only one John Ede whose mother is Ann/Hannah Pattenden

Had another look at GRO index which began 3rd q 1837 & looked to 1839,
No more John Ede
It is possible there was another 1 but he was`nt registered . I believe it became compulsery in 1875

That did cross my mind ggrocott, but it looks like they are two separate families according to the 1851 census.

I may have figured it out

While I was looking through some old newspapers I found the following message sent to John’s widow in 1889:

“Mrs. John Ede (widow) of Burham, Aylesford, Kent, went to New Zealand about 1875. Her sister-in-law, Maria Bailey asks.”

I see one of the 1851 census records lists a Maria Ede born around 1842. According to marriage records, a Maria Ede born abt 1842 married Robert Bailey in Burham, Kent on 4 Jun 1865. Her father is listed as John Ede.

Looks like John’s parents were John Ede and Ann, from Whitemans Green, Cuckfield. Would somebody help me figure out Ann’s surname, I see some family trees suggest her name is Ann Howell but I can’t seem to verify this.
