Stephen PARKINSON and Margaret BEATTY / BEATTIE Belfast and Sydney

In the last 24 hours I have managed to get some terrific help from the guys on the County Down (Northern Ireland) messageboard at the following link:

I had known that Stephen Parkinson and Margaret Beatty had married in 1886 in Belfast but did not know until today that they emigrated to NSW (in August 1888). I have been directed towards possible obituaries and offspring for this couple and have ordered a transcription of a death record for Margaret Parkinson in 1923 and the birth of Margaret and Stephen's daughter Margaret in 1893 to prove that this is all correct.

Presuming all this is correct (and it seems too coincidental not to be correct) the Parkinsons had at least four daughters as follows:

1. Florence Evelyn (1889-1951)
2. Sarah E. (1891-1928) m.(1921) Joseph Jones
3. Margaret (1893-1957) m.(1919) Sidney Turner Rudd (d.1945)
4. Susanna (1896-1896)

If anyone is aware of any of this family or any additional information it would be warmly appreciated. A whole Australian side to my family is opening up in front of my eyes and I couldn't be happier!

Thanks for that, I have just discovered a death notice for Stephen on Trove that mentioned he worked for New South Wales Railways. I am now 100% convinced this is the right person as his occupation when he married in Belfast in 1886 was a waggon shunter. Its great when things start to add up!

It appears that RUDD Margaret died March 5 1957 at RGH Concord and of 29 Short St Homebush, widow of the late Sidney Turner Rudd, dearly loved mother and mother-in law of J and W, A and A, L and J dear grandmother of their children loved aunt of I and D and H aged 60 years At rest

Will pm the names as it gives them in full

From Ryerson Index, a Lorna Nell Chapman died 21 Dec 2007 aged 81.  Death notice in Sydney Morning Herald  22 Dec 2007
