Hi Dawn, this is all I know so far, I can't find any records of him other than what I've found which is when and where he was born, who he married and that he had 2 sons Gordan and Donald David Braybrook ( who is my Grandad).
Any information you can offer would be appreciated.

Regards

Dave

Hi Dave,
I can't see his birth on NSW BDM http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au

Do you have the marriage cert or a transcription which is cheaper and they e-mail it to you
http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/howToTraceYouFamTree.htm#TranscriptionAgent

I have looked on trove http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/   without finding a marriage announcement or a death or any other snippets. :(

   regards,
     Ros

adding : Do you know if  they lived in NSW in later life?

I can see birth registration for son Donald (your gf) in 1900 in Ashfield district in Sydney.
But none for Gordan/Gordon up to 1911.

And their marriage in 1899 at Petersham.  Do you have this certificate / transcription?
It may throw some light on his actual birth year/place?  As Ros says, his birth doesn't come up online in NSW BDM.  Do you know his parents' names?  There is a David born 1883 but that would make him only 16 when he got married which would be fairly unusual in those days, even in these days.   :)

"...David St James (or St John) VD Stuart, born in 1875 in Sydney NSW"

What is the source of this  information please?

If it is his death certificate it might not be correct.

I can see marriages for Gordon and Donald in NZ, also divorce for parents in 1920, so they lived their lives in NZ?.

On Archway NZ there is a record of a Divorce in Christchurch Divorce Files 1920

Stuart, Ellen Ann v Stuart, David St.John Vincent Donald

also  a marriage 1926 NZ Ellen Ann Stuart  to James Swanson  might be your Ellen

Going with the marriage Cass found for a Ellen Swanson, i think this could be her death. Age would fit also.

NZ death index
1957/33307
