On out celebrating, am at daughters house babysitting grandson while she is at work.  On this day 11 years ago I was sitting in a hospital room with my dad, spending his last new years with me . Still miss him, and christmas and the holidays are not the same without him.

Happy New Year

Cheers
Anne

On this day in 1987, my uncle, William died. He was the brother of George who died a few days before on Christmas Day 1986. Neither knew the other one was ill, so we like to think that they met up in Heaven and each asked the other what they were doing there.  ;D That was a difficult time for my mother though, losing two brothers within days.

Unfortunately we went through the same situation 4 years ago when my mother died on the 2nd January and her brother in law on the 4th.

Lots of dates pre 1752 for 1 Jan to 25 March will be shown as 2 years, such as 1702/3 etc.  Although I know this shows the old Julian Calendar date together with the new Gregorian date, I can’t remember what it is actually called.

Mary Phillips Brand my g.g.aunt was born in Alton, Hants in 1856.  She is on yesterday’s list too as she died on 31.12.1928
Eliza Louisa Clarke my husband’s g.grandmother was born in Warwick in 1852

10 Baptisms – must have been a popular day to be baptised.
John Gilchrist my 3 x g.grandfather was baptised in Frampton, Lincs in 1805
Cornelius Collett my 5 x g.g.uncle was baptised in Eye, Suffolk in 1702/3
Elizabeth Baxter my 5 x g.g.aunt was baptised in Heckington in Lincs in 1756
Elizabeth Francke my 9 x g.g.aunt was baptised in Morton by Bourne in Lincs in 1594/5
Elizabeth Bagshaw my 6 x g.g.aunt was baptised in Bradfield, Yorks in 1702/03
William Pake my 6 x g.g.grandfather was baptised in Haddenham, Cambs in 1700/01
James Postlethwaite my 4 x g.g.uncle was baptised in Pennington in Furness, Lancs in 1754
Dorothy Postlethwaite my 4 x g.g.aunt (sister of James above) was baptised in Pennington in Furness, Lancs in 1756
Joseph Day my 4 x g.g.uncle was baptised in Heckington, Lincs in 1758
Jane Wilkinson my 7 x g.g.aunt was baptised in Holme Cultram, Cumberland in 1682/83

Henry Hobson my g.g.uncle & Jane l’Estrange married in Cheetham, Manchester in 1876.  Unfortunately Jane died 20 months later and Henry went on to marry twice more.
Baxter Stanton my 4 x g.g.uncle and Lydia Hammond married in Fosdyke, Lincs in 1801
Sarah Clarke the wife of my 2nd cousin 3 times removed  ??? died in 1897.  All I know of Sarah is her date of birth and her date of death.
John Uffindel my 6 x g.g.uncle died in Haddenham, Cambs in 1708/09 aged 12.

Maud Ellen Shalless (nee Cockett) was buried in St Andrews Churchyard, Higher Blackley, Lancs in 1959, 3 days after her death on 29 December 1958.
