Frances Louisa Douglas nee Dolby died on this day 1908 in Bury, Lancs., aged 64
She was wife of my great great uncle George Boyce Douglas
Frances was born on 13.11.1843 in Lambeth and married George in 1867 in Bolton.

Frances must have had an eventful life certainly not easy.
She had 10 children of whom 3 died in infancy.

Her husband practiced all his life as a doctor based at Bolton, but was not qualified and was prosecuted and convicted (only) once, in 1870.
George was also made bankrupt twice in his life, in 1868 and 1876.
George was admitted to Prestwich asylum between 1901 and his death there in 1905

Congrats to the god-daughter, DORAN54

On this day, 1st Jan 1875, OH's great-great-grandfather, Michael Begg Sea Captain, died in N County Dublin aged 74.

We don't know much about his voyages, but the family owned/part-owned ships, and his sons sailed around the Med, and to the West Indies and S America.
I stayed up till all hours on Saturday with Ancestry's freebie, downloading Masters' Certs etc.
Now to make sense of it!
