Hi all,

Thought I'd post some Quarter Sessions I was interested in as they maybe connected to my family. 

Midsummer Sessions 1783 p107

For Riot and assault upon John SPEDDING

Indisctment against George STUART the elder late of the parish of Westward on the County of Cumberland yeoman and Jane his wife, George STEWARD the younger late of the same place yeoman, Thomas SMITH late of the same place yeoman, James TOWSON late of the parishes of Wigton in the said county yeoman, William STEEL late of the parish of Wigton aforesaid yeoman, and John YOUNG late of the parish of Wigton aforesaid yeoman, Towson LOWTHER late of the parish of Westward Yeoman.

Easter Sessions 1826 p5

For Petit Larceny

Indictmant against Henry LOWTHER late same sessions of the parish of Workington pleads guilty on the County of Cumberland ordered to be imprisoned labourer and kept at hard labour in his majestys gaol at Carlisle for the space of one month.

For the forceable entry into two dwelling homes the possession of Charles YOUNG situated in the parish of Moresby and unlawfully de? same.

Indictment against William LOWTHER late of the parish of Moresby in the County of Cumberland yeoman and Mary his wife and Thomas YOUNG late of the parish of St Bees in the County of Cumberland

Midsummer Sessions 1778 (written with the above)

Deft. LOWTHER and Mrs appear and plead not guilty and enter into Becog: to traverse and try west sessions
Mich-as Sess: 1778 Ordered that the Becog: be entreated they not having appeared agreeable to such Becogrnyanes?

For Riot and assault upon John SMITH

Indictment against William LOWTHER late of the parish of Bridekirk in the County of Cumberland, labourer Thomas MACNEIL late of the same place labourer, Robert OGLEBY late of the same place labourer and William HUGHES late of the same place labourer.

Same Sessions, bench warrant issued.
Mich-as Sessions Defts William LOWTHER, Robert OGLEBY and William HUGHES appeared and all pleaded not guilty, all guilty by order.  Oder to be imprisoned 12 months each and hard labour.
