im trying to trace my ancestor jessie harcourt i now have learnt  she was illegitimate daughter of  thomas forthegill  she inherited kingsthorpe hall  pickering  i,d love to find out more on this thank you

Hey, not at all !!  :)  Having said that, I wouldn't like to walk it ! ;D ;D

There's also a place formerly known as Kingsthorpe in West Yorkshire - but it's now known as Coneythorpe. After reading the link - I think we're on the right one.

I've just been looking at Kingthorpe Hall in 1841 - I'm not at all convinced Thomas Fothergill was living in the Hall - his address appears to be Kingthorpe Low House. Have you seen the actual page on the census return, Tracey ?
