My Grandfather, JohnLindsay son of Maitland Lindsay and Sarah Wither was born on23/02/1884 at Craigenveoch Cottages. Old Luce.
He Married Isabella Jane Gracie in Stranraer 02/06/1905 in Stranraer, she died in Stranraer 21/03/1956 and was shown as the widow of John.
I have been unable to find a death for John in Scotland and none of my family know what became of him.
I know he worked at one time on the ferries between Stranraer and Larne and may possibly have moved to Ireland.
Its a complete mystery and hope some may be able to help.

Hi Allan,

Since you know he worked on the ferries he is likely to have been in the Merchant Navy. It's quite possible that he may have ventured further afield and was lost at sea abroad. Archives of Local Stranraer Newspapers may come up with something.
