MEERS/PLEDGER marriage - Stoke by Clare
« on: Monday 14 January 13 21:15 GMT (UK) »
Greetings,
I am wishing to 1) confirm the marriage of John Meers (b at SbC 19 Oct 1777) and Sarah Pledger (b at Haverhill 24 Nov 1769) at Stoke by Clare on 19 Nov 1802, and 2) identify the children of this union.  My records indicate that Sarah Meers died in Jan 1816, possibly buried at nearby Ovington, Essex.
Only child that i have located is James Meers, baptised at SbC 14 June 1803.  Names of other siblings would be most helpful.
cheers,
Ian

Dawnsh:
Thank you for correcting me on my post.  Yes, the second part of my question is a repeat of an earlier look-up request dated May 2012. However, I would appreciate a confirmation on the marriage date of John Meers (b at SbC 19 Oct 1777) and Sarah Pledger (b at Haverhill 24 Nov 1769) at Stoke by Clare on 19 Nov 1802.  Names of witnesses, etc.
cheers,
ian

Hi Ian

According to Phillimores Atlas, the registers have been deposited at the Suffolk Records Office at Bury St Edmonds.

As you have the exact date and  place, have you contacted them and asked for the look-up to be done?

I have no info on the Meers family but can tell you that Sarah Pledger, the sister of my three-times great grandfather, was born in Stoke by Clare on 24 November 1768, not 1769. Don't know if that helps track them down.

Haverhill and Stoke by Clare are very near each other, could have been born in Stoke and baptised in H.averhill
