Hello Sue,
That's so true, I can't forget Robert NOBLE.  I had a look on ancestry and there was a few different Robert Nobles on Electoral rolls.  Its just trying to determine which one he is now.  There is one there that is on the roll in Dalby, near Oakey but I'll have to do more research to see if it could be him.  Thanks for clearing up my confusion with Fay Isabelle as well.

I was using Trove to find out more about Robert Augustus White ALLEN by using his siblings as a search and using the info I had from Muss about his brothers being in WW1, I discovered they lived at Eatonsville, South Grafton NSW.  I found articles on his siblings and his father JOHN ALLEN and mother CHRISTINA ALLEN but nothing on ROBERT AUGUSTUS WHITE ALLEN.

It certainly is a mystery.

Thanks again
Leisa

1934 Commonwealth Electoral Roll
Dalby
Allen Stanley Edward, Kumbarilla, labourer.

The same residence as that of Catherine & Edward in 1934.  If this is Edward Stanley with the first & second name transposed on the roll he would have been at least 21 in 1934.

Gerry

Hi Gerry,
I do not have access to the 1934.

Can you say whether this chap is in the vicinity of CATHERINE and EDWARD (POTTER) or at the same  address (if it is given)

I found a man by the name STANLEY EDWARD ALLEN in DALBY in 1954 EDIT 1949and with him a woman (KATHLEEN ROSE)
This item dated 1949 is about him . Married 10 years in 1949.

Things a bit unsettled maritally speaking. :-\

I just wonder whether it is not afterall, CATHERINE's son you spotted in DALBY.

ADDING

In 1954 and 1958 he appears to be alone at Bell

(sorry for the mess up!)

Sue,

Firstly I made 2 mistakes with my post.

For the 1934 ER the person was No 3379 Stanley Edward Potter, Kumbarilla.  Not Allen.

And, this was the same ER address as Catherine & Edward in 1930, not 1934.

Thank for getting me to check.

Gerry

There is a family tree that has Catherine Cherry born 1st August 1877 at Oakey Qld, Father James Cherry, mother, Margaret Dwyer.

Catherine married Robert Augustus White Allen 2nd Feb 1899 at St Augustines Church of England Oakey.

1874 Qld Post Office Directory

Again Sue and Gerry,
Thank you again so much for all your time and efforts and taking the interest in helping me.
Now I know that Edward Stanley was a POTTER and not an ALLEN.  Although he might of been born to Robert NOBLE and assumed the name POTTER as Catherine CHERRY was with Ted POTTER by then.

Just a question, how do you get access to inscriptions on headstones or know the church that Catherine and Robert Augustus WHITE ALLEN were married.  It blows me away.  So they were married in the Church of England.  This is so interesting, especially because my Grandfather Francis Gordon ALLEN (Jim) born in Oakey, lived in Dalby after his marriage was a Catholic.  Mum said it was very strict in earlier days with the Catholic Church.  She remembers being invited to a wedding at another church and having to be outside as she was a Catholic.  My dad also told me that if you married someone outside the Catholic Church you had to get permission and that families did not like you marrying a Catholic if they weren't and vise versa.

Kind regards,
Leisa

Gerry,
Where do you get the post office directory information from?  Maybe I can find out the whereabouts of Robert Augustus White ALLEN using one of them for NSW.  Is it the Sands one they have on Ancestry.  Hopefully one day, Ancestry will release further records for earlier censuses and the BDM will release more dates to search for.

Interestingly Sue and Gerry, speaking about Catherine's marriage to Ted POTTER.  Mum has a date written down that they were married 9 November 1935.  Looking at the BDM for Qld and Ancestry, I was unable to confirm such.  Mum isn't too sure that they were married either.

Kind regards,
Leisa

Hi Leisa,
The Memorial Inscriptions come from a privately held resource.

Many in the Rchat forum have wider research facilities than what is offered by ancestry dot com. and online services

Gerry may be able to describe his own sources ;)

The 1935 marriage date is interesting.  ROBERT ALLEN was still alive in 1935 and I have not seen  a divorce record yet for ROBERT and CATHERINE.

I wonder if  the marriage really took place. :-\
