Richard or Robbin rubie
« on: Monday 21 January 13 21:07 GMT (UK) »
Hello - I am very new to forums and I'm not very good at searching as I'm not sure how to.

On behalf of a friend I'm trying to find ww1 records for Richard or Robert rubie.  Born Sevenoaks Kent July 1887 died France 1971.

Have been given info that he was an interpreter in the army involved in interrogation of German prisoners.

Any help would be so much appreciated.

Welcome to Rootschat.   :)

I guess this is his birth registration:

Robert Richard Rubie  Sept Q  1887  Sevenoaks

Around 70% of WW1 records were destroyed in WW2 however, if he served in the Army after 1920 his records will be with the MOD.  These are available and cost, I think, £30.  This link gives details:

Does this mean that your uncle has his service records?

I find only two medal records for overseas service in the Great War, an artilleryman with no other records to identify him and a Royal Engineer railwayman who started in the Royal Dragoons who lived in Scunthorpe after the war.

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe
