Passenger List from Liverpool to Quebec 1847. Where to look?
« on: Tuesday 22 January 13 01:51 GMT (UK) »
I have found online references to the ship SOBRAON sailing May 8, 1847 from Liverpool; arriving June 28 in Quebec. Canada. 602 passengers. 31 deaths at sea, 36 more deaths in quarantine at Grosse Isle, Quebec. I believe one passenger death may have been my ancestor from N. Ireland. There are no passenger lists for that time period on the Canadian side of the Atlantic but was wondering if anyone knows of any resources/repositories in Liverpool, National Archives or elsewhere in UK where this list may possibly exist?

For those who died at sea or in quarantine, there is an online database on the Canadian side.
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/grosse-ile-immigration/001053-100.01-e.php
71 hits for the SOBRAON in 1847.

In terms of outgoing passenger lists, those weren't regularly kept until much later.
