"Ffrenchville" Marriage & burial info
« on: Wednesday 23 January 13 03:46 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I recently found this marriage recorded in
The British Newspaper Archive,
Freeman's Journal,
Friday 10th August 1849
Mark Joseph Ffrench, Esq, son of the late Thomas Ffrench, Esq, of Ffrenchville, County Galway to Amelia Frances [sic]' daughter of the Rev. Charles Aldrich of Plymouth
Can anyone tell me anything about this "Ffrenchville" or the family.

I have been looking for Amelia & her sister Frances Mary Emma Aldrich for years. both disappear from U.K. records around 1871/72. I am now wondering if they travelled to the home of Amelia's husband & are buried there.
Also not sure if Friday 10th August 1849 is publication date or date of marriage but they don't appear to have married in England

                          Grateful for any help

                                               Oz Kim

This does look very promising...ages match...Only problem I have is Amelia & Frances were Church of England...Their father was a Reverend of St Andrew's Church of England Plymouth..but it does give me a marriage to investigate

                                      Thanks Gaffy

Familysearch has, in the 'Ireland, Births and Baptisms, 1620-1881' collection, a Susan Mary Gertrude Lynch (1878) and a Neptune Lynch (1880), parents Charles Lynch and Frances Aldrich, Carabeg Galway.

Familysearch also has a civil registration for the death of an Amelia French, registed Tuam, Oct - Dec 1904, estimated birth year 1817.

Thanks for this Gaffy this is great

Just to confuse things Just found an article on "The Lynch Estate, Carrowbeg Nth, Claretuam, County Galway" which states

Quote :
Captain Charles Lynch of the East York Militia married twice. His first wife was Belinda O'Conor Donelan who died in 1862 and his second wife was a French of Pollnahallia, parish of Donaghpatrick, county Galway.
Could Frances have been using her sisters married name???

Charles apparently died in late December 1905 as reported in the ''Galway Express'' of 30 December 1905. Another family was living on the estate in 1911.

Now to find Frances.

What info is on an Irish Death record & how would I go about obtaining a copy
