Henry Jeeves/Jieves/Geives/Geeves............
« on: Monday 04 February 13 21:08 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I have a record of a marriage between Henry Jeeves and Mary Redhead, 25 June 1735, Sandy, Beds.

However, I am unable to trace Henry's birth.

I read somewhere else that he was born 1709 to a William Jeeves / Susan Robinson but until it is there in black and white I am unable to proceed.

Many thanks,

Mark.

There's a baptism of Henry JEVE son of William & Susan in Biggleswade on 5 Jan 1708/9. They also baptised William JEVE on 13 Nov 1704 in Biggleswade (per PR transcript).  Soundex doesn't appear to pick up Jeve as a variation of Jeeves

That's black and white for a baptism. I leave it to you to decide if he was the Henry who married a few miles up the A1 in Sandy in 1735

David,

To be honest  I think that I need to re-trace this whole 'Jeeve' family as I have now found two possibilities of another Jeeve.

I refer to a James Jeeve who married Ann Housden 27 Feb 1794 in Sandy. I always thought that James was baptised 13 Apr 1771 in Sandy to William Jeeves / Elizabeth Lincoln but I have since found another baptism 10 May 1767 in Sandy  to Thomas Jeeves / Mary Allen so I am afraid 'poor Henry' is going to have to wait his turn.

If you have any info on the two Sandy births or the Jeeves / Housden marriage I would be most grateful.

Regards,

Mark.

Without wishing to confuse the issue further, I have just tracked an ALLEN JEEVES (who married Harriott BROAD in 1832 in London - then both returning to Sandy -as confirmed by 1841 & 1851 census) who is recorded as being Baptised - as Allen JIEVES - on 19  Sep 1808, with parents named as Thomas  & Mary... Allen died in 1881. & Harriott was buried 3 Oct 1858.
