Long lost Cousins in Canada
« on: Monday 11 February 13 19:08 GMT (UK) »
A cousin of my grandma Robert George Knox was born 20/08/1919 527 London Rd. Stoke On Trent, England. He emigrated to Canada and was in the Canadian Navy.
He married a lady called Naomi (not sure if this was her real name), and had one child that i know of Robert Jr.
Id love to be able to find out more about his family, and maybe even find living relatives!
Can anyone help? unfortunately i dont know where in Canada he went to.

There is a good possibility for your Robert in the Voters Lists in Toronto, Ontario.  Because his birth falls just outside the 100 year rule I will PM you the details.

If you think this is your Cousin then you can further check Toronto Star Pages of the Past (pay site but quite reasonable) for BMDs that might be listed.  BMDs in Canada are protected by privacy laws and nothing recent can be accessed by the general public - that's why we depend more on cemetery listings, newspapers, etc.

The dates and names on this headstone seem to fit in with your family.
Carleton Place is outside of Ottawa.

You can search this site for the Form 30As for the arrival into Canada on the Vedic 29 July 1921 at the Port of Quebec for George Knox b. 1895, wife Florabell b. 1898, and son Robert George b. 1919  Each individual has a separate form.  The entries are not always in exact alphabetical order.

Death of Flora Bell Knox in British Columbia, widow of George Arthur, with son Robert of Scarborough, Ontario the informant.  The address in Scarborough seems to be the same as the one I sent by PM from the Voters Lists.

In 1958 George Knox is listed with wife Florabell in North Battleford, Saskatchewan on the Voters Lists.  An online family tree shows George Arthur Knox died 14 April 1960 in Saskatchewan.
Voters Lists for 1962 602 100th St. North Battleford shows Florabell as a widow.  George's occupation in 1958 was working for the CNR (railway)  In 1970 FloraBell Knox is shown in Esquimalt, BC.  At the same address is a Frederick Knox, retired, with wife Rose.  There is no image of Frederick's death registration but FamilySearch.org has a transcription of Rose's death registration.  Her birthplace is Stoke-on-Trent.
