Doesn't surprise me, noticed it a lot on the Scottish side of SIL or BIl's marrying deceased spouses and one in my NZ tree ..... my tree maker will have words with me when I enter it ;D

I will look in the morning (my time) as I better head off to my bed.

I do appreciate the help so far on this. :)

Cheers

Have you got a place of birth for her?  Baptisms circa 1802 aren't bringing up anything interesting in the Glasgow area!

Appears in the 1841 census in Gallowgate, St Johns, Lanarkshire under her married name as Adam.  But isn't it only a guess at ages on Census night?

Just been having a look  :D

On 1851, she's down as born Kirkintilloch, Dunbarton, circa 1805.  Address same as on the death cert.

I'm wondering if Janet Adam's son David got his grandmother's name wrong - it happened not infrequently.

I've looked at the Kirkintilloch,  Dunbartonshire records for around the time of her birth and have found a possible sister - Mary b. 1808, daughter of David Horn, weaver and Elizabeth Horn. There seem to be a whole family of Horns there at that time - Samuel , David and  Robert.

There are many Horns in Kirkintilloch but no Kerns!

Going by the naming patterns  for my Scottish Ancestry in my tree and with some having the maiden name of mothers as their middle name, you could well be right with the Grandmothers name being Elizabeth.

The first daughter born to Janet has been named Elizabeth with the last three being called, Mary, David and Janet.

I couldn't see anything when I searched for a David Horn with a wife Janet, but thought that the recorded hadn't been recorded.
