gray family - john budd gray - australian descendant

 john budd gray b.1798 is my 3xggfather. his son by francis dowling, william israel gray b.1856 in tasmania is my 2xggfather. His son herbert gray b.1881 (by 2nd wife christina haig) is my 1xggfather. herbert gray married edith selina elton and their daughter myrtle is my grandmother. wanting to contact member An65 or others who may know information on john budd grays parents

There is a very extensive public family tree on ancestry.com (owner resydog), with photos and records for viewing.
They have John Jack Budd Gray's parents as Thomas Gray 1760 - 1814 and mother
Susannah Faben 1768 - ?

Father of Thomas b1860 is Thomas 1840 and mother Susannah Faben married 1791 Burell Cambridgeshire

Another tree owner (denlin6compo) takes it back another generation to Thomas born 1717 and Elizabeth Mashley 1719 - 1784.

May be worth contacting them.

thank you.  yes that is my family thomas gray and susannah faben and i do know some of names you mentioned and have seen some info on ancestry.com. will keep looking there thanks again for the other tree owner names

thank you.    will need to look into this as many public trees on ancestry have the his father as thomas and different mothers are listed. its confusing to say the least and being new to this makes it even a greater challenge to know where to find correct info. i have a few older living relatives, but as they married into this family and dont know much about their husbands ancestors unfortunately cant help me much more than they already have. back to the records

John Budd Gray may have been a convict as there was a John Budd Gray (via ship Sir R peel) recommended for a conditional pardon in 1851

 yes i have found that site and it had a lot of information on the gray family as did its sister site in the UK. Have also found a lot of posts in here (under travelling people) containing detailed info on him and his parents thomas gray and susannah faben so hopefully i can now continue on the right path
