Griffith's Valuation Books- now online for N.I. counties
« on: Wednesday 27 February 13 09:49 GMT (UK) »
Good news for anyone trying to trace family or property in the 6 counties of Northern Ireland- PRONI's long talked about project will soon be released- http://irish-genealogy-news.blogspot.ie/

"... I stopped by at the PRONI stand where some more good news was in store. The Valuation Revision Books are going to be launched online on the PRONI website at the end of March! These cover the year 1864 to 1930. Janet Hancock told me that they're 'geographically indexed', meaning that they will be searchable by townland/parish rather than by name. Superb news for anyone with ancestors from Northern Ireland.
PRONI operates a 'one big upgrade/release a year' programme and the Valuation Revision Books will be this year's pleasure parcel. In the wings for 2014 is a big upgrade to the Wills collection..."

(thnaks to fellow moderator Shane for spotting this)

The printed version of Griffith's Valuation can be found on several online websites, including this one where you can search by name or place (although it doesn't pick up spelling variations) and also view maps-

I have posted the above on the Antrim, Armagh, Derry/Londonderry, Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone boards and will add updates later but as this is a Resource board I'm locking this topic.
