Henry Milward of Darley Dale 1673-1728 was my 7 x Great grandfather. He was baptized in 1673 under the name of Robert Milward (Father John Milward). I have a copy of Henry's will and we know he was 54 when he died.
There is a theory of why Roberts name might have been change (which long could be explained.

The proof of Henry being the son of John came from the 1700 Bachelor tax records of Darley Dale.
John (widower) classed as a bachelor paid 6 pennies for himself and 2 pennies for each his bachelor sons John & Henry (no mention of Robert).

We think that John's wife Ann did died after or during childbirth, the dates match well.

John also had an illegitimate child (Dinah) together with a widower Ann Allin, henry went on to marry her daughter also named Ann (Allin).
