96 Upper Richmond Road
« on: Tuesday 05 March 13 14:24 GMT (UK) »
On some naturalisation papers I have been examining the person's employer is shown at this address but the name is unclear it could be Emwood or Enwood. The individual was described as a Motor Mechanic so it could be a garaged. Any ideas where I might start looking for info at this address?

Sorry the date of naturalisation was 1919. He was a waiter in the 1911 census and I know that he worked in the 20s and 30s as a chauffeur at the Czech embassy.

The 1911 Post Office London Suburbs directory lists the Hulbert Bramley Motor Company (proprietor S. W. Dowglass) at this address. They are listed under Motor Car Engineers, Motor Car Makers and Motor Car Repairers and Garages.

I just put the address into my search engine and this came up.  Hope that helps.
Key - Abberley, Worcs
Tivers - Hampshire?, Surrey & London
Carsons - Wiltshire & London
Kilpatrick - Ontario & Saskatchewan, Canada
Seldon - Crediton & Broadclyst, Devon
Spiller - Venn Ottery & Broadclyst, Devon
Williams - Willscote, Oxfordshire & Culworth, Northants.
Evans - Pound Bank, Gt Malvern area, Worcs

Thanks for that. I am really after who was there in 1919. I guess they were a garage as my Joseph Tyfas was a motor mechanic on his naturalisation application but the company name looks like Emwood or Enwood. I am obtaining a copy of the papers so may be able to read it better.
