I was wondering if anyone had any information on my grandparents Thomas Wafer and Ellen Buckley who married in 1899 in Liverpool. I would particularly like to know if they were born in Liverpool or elsewhere?

in case you don`t have it - and according to the marriage record she was Ellen , and not Helen as in the census ....

Andrews baptism in 1899 is also on that site - click R C Baptisms ...he was baptised at St Anthonys - Scotland Road area ...if they stayed ther ,you might want to google Scottie Press ..a site for Scotland road are of Liverpool....someone may know the family ...there is a Wafer family in Hunts Cross,Liverpool - 2 miles from where I live

Ellen and Helen are variants of the same name and can be used interchangeably.

Thanks for all of the information. I am fairly sure that the family comes from Wexford in the mid-1800's. So where's the best place to check that out?

Civil registration of births, deaths and Catholic marriages in Ireland started in 1864 (from 1845 for non-Catholic marriages) so you'll need to have a more exact location than 'Wexford' in order to search for sources like church records.
