I’m a descendant if Robert Hullah. I have little information for you but the story goes he was an alcoholic. His son James J Hullah had little use for him and denounced his English heritage. He only identified as Irish. His trip back to England was contentious as his family felt it was a selfish trip. I never heard he was in jail but it does not shock me.
