I seem to recall reading something a few years back about an epidemic in what is now the Knott Mill/Gaythorn area of Manchester, where Whitworth St West is now, in the mid 1800's.  Although
I would imagine localised outbreaks were quite common in those days.

The burial records for Ardwick Cem. and some of the Hulme churches are good for giving the cause of death.

There is a Walking Tour called

Angel Meadow: The Irish and Cholera in Manchester by Mervyn Busteed and Paul Hindle
If you haven't already read the information, you might like to download it. Itseems to be very interesting.

Hi Andreajjj

Here is a link for the 19thc Public Health document for Year 9 students as put together by Manchester Archives.  It is quite interesting.  At the end of the document it lists further reading and Archive documents which might be of use.
