From the marriage record of William Todd I know that his parents were James Todd and Elisabeth Johnstone
Robson, Douglas, Redpath, Sandilands, Keppie

I assume the same marriage certificate confirmed Mary Ann Greenshields RODGERS' parents as the ones found above???

From the same 1875 certificate:
Did it mention if either parent James TODD or Elizabeth JOHNSTONE were deceased?
What was James' occupation, if mentioned?
Did William's age at marriage agree with the age of the 1881 Census?
What are the names of the witness' to the marriage?

If William's birth  was registered from 1855 onward (ie not in 1854 back, before. start of Civil Registration) then:
Scotlands People: Free Index search of BIRTHS:
Wil*  TODD reg.  Lanark 1855 to 1857 = 7, none of them in Carstairs, 3 in 1855,  3 in 1856 and 1 in 1857.
Wil*  TOD  reg. Lanark 1855 to 1857 = 1, and he was reg. in  Carstairs and in 1855.
