Canterbury Marriage Licences
« on: Tuesday 26 March 13 10:36 GMT (UK) »
Morning all

Can anyone tell me if all the Canterbury Marriage Licences books, edited by Joseph Meadows Cowper, have been digitalised yet?

I can see the first and second editions are online at various sites, but does anyone know if the remaining editions are available as well? If not, were can they be viewed?

Regards
Lee

There are various reference copies throughout Kent Libraries see https://kent.spydus.co.uk/cgi-bin/spydus.exe/MSGTRN/OPAC/BSEARCH (use Canterbury marriage as keywords)

Certainly at one time there were copies available for loan via the inter library loan system as I have borrowed myself many years ago.

Which years were you after?

Hi

To be honest, I'm after all available years. This is to add additional source material to my ancestors entries, and to help with researching some dead ends

1st ser., 1568-1618.
2d ser., 1619-1660.
3d ser., 1661-1676.
4th ser., 1677-1700.
5th ser., 1701-1725.
6th ser., 1726-1750.

I'm not aware of series 3-6 online anywhere but 1751-1837 are on Ancestry.

I'm sure I found these before but I cannot find them now!  Are they still on Ancestry?

Thank you, that's a nice link and will be useful.  Sadly the digital downloads only go up to 1750, and at present I'm looking for 1785 onwards.

I'm sure the text was on Ancestry at one time, because I made a note of a marriage licence in 1804 that yielded some valuable details.
