A more complete picture of the Severne and Lucas trees, tidied up. I have attempted to keep equivalent generations on the same horizontal level, but this has not always been possible.

Severne and Captain Morgan

Rev. Thomas Severne married Hester Clutton in 1734. Hester was the daughter of Thomas Clutton and Annaretta Morgan whose marriage is given in Burke's "Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Extinct and Dormant Baronetcies of England" in the lineage of the Morgan family of Llangattock.

That Morgan lineage suggests that descendents of Rev. Thomas Severne -

. are related to a soldier who served under Lord Protector Cromwell.

. are related to a well known pirate - Captain Morgan.

. can identify with a lineage that goes back to the year 1119.

Is Burke's work reliable?

Severnes of Derby - Poetry Publication
« Reply #38 on: Sunday 03 January 21 22:07 GMT (UK) »
A previous contributor to this thread posted an item which referenced a book of poetry published by Francis Leigh Severne. Research has identified the book in question -

Published in 1848 a book of poetry titled "A Garland of Verse".

He used the nom de plume (pseudonym) of "A Shepherd". (Appropriate, since he was farming in South Wales at this point in time.)

Details attached.
