Husband of Agnes McCurdy nee Beggs, Ballynashee
« on: Wednesday 27 March 13 02:43 GMT (UK) »
I have the will of James Beggs of Ballynashee who died Jan 8, 1907. In the will, he names his daughter Agnes McCurdy with grandchildren James, Jane, and Meta aka Margaret McCurdy. I found the family on the 1901 census with James, wife Jenny, daughter Agnes McCurdy, widow, and the grandchildren.  Agnes is 43. Does anyone know the first name of her husband, Mr. McCurdy? James is deceased before the 1911 but Agnes can still be found with her mother Jennet and her 3 children.
Thanks for any help. On the 1901, all children born Co. Antrim but on the 1911, the oldest James McCurdy has born Co. Derry City.
Peggy
PS. Sometimes on the Irish census, I see Rushee, Ballinashee and sometimes Rashee, Ballynashee. Are they one and the same?

John McCurdy married Agnes Beggs in Ballymena Registry Office on 31st December 1886, his father was James McCurdy.

The 1901 and 1911 census locations are the same place, Ballynashee is a townland in the civil parish of Rashee. If you take the Ballynashee Road north of the village of Ballyeaston up to where it joins with the Shane's Hill Road, you will have skirted the western side of the townland.

Thank you very much, Cell and Gaffy. Much appreciated. I really must get to Ireland and see
these places. It is on my bucket list.

I am not sure how accurate this is, but I have the following:

1.  Samuel Robinson m. ? and had
2.  Thomas Robinson, b. abt. 1830 m. ?
2.  Janet (Jenny) Robinson m. 1854 James Beggs
3.  Agnes Beggs m. John McCurdy
4.  Margaret (Meta) McCurdy (1892-1989) m. Crawford Bryce Adair, son of William Adair
and Sarah Wilson McAuley.

William Adair was the son of John Adair
Sarah Wilson McAuley was the dau of James McAuley of Ardymaugh (c.1809-1874) and Ellen Brice Killen (c.1820-1889).
