There is also a village called Easington in Yorkshire. It was in Guisborough R.D. until 1936, then in Cleveland until 1974 and then in Loftus.

Is there more than one Easington in Yorkshire?  This is what the Genuki listing shows

East Riding - RD Patrington 1837-1937
North Riding - Guisborough 1837-1936
West Riding - Clitheroe - 1837-1937

The Easington which Keiren Scott refers to would be the one in Guisborough R.D.

Evelyn Wilson born 12th October 1920 in Easington, North Yorkshire, now part of Redcar & Cleveland, near Loftus.

But there is no birth for Evelyn Wilson in Oct/Nov/Dec 1920 in Guisborogh RG District!

I suspect she was registered under her mothers maiden name and then took the surname Wilson after her mother married "Mr" Wilson

Need info from Keiren as requested to progress further

when did her mother marry and what was the husbands christian name as presumably his surname was Wilson

Also should have included that we need her mothers christian name and maiden name

I had taken it that Evelyn's mum was Wilson and that Evelyn was born Wilson, and then later mum married and they both took a different name.

If, however, it is as you suggest, and Wilson is the later married name,  there is still nothing doing. The only Evelyn's registered in Guisborough in Oct/Nov/dec 1920 are Evelyn Holiday and Evelyn M Lack, and both give a different mothers maiden name implying the mother is married.

We need Keiron to confirm if Wilson is the birth name , or the later husbands name, before we can even begin to think further.

Evelyn took her Mother's Husbands name, even though the husband wasn't her father
