rountree family from armagh
« on: Tuesday 09 April 13 10:16 BST (UK) »
Hi this is my first post and im hoping someone will be able to help me with my search.
Im looking for info on the rountree family from armagh. My great grandfather was john rountree married to annie moore 1905, they had three children. John had 2 sisters called anna rebecca who is on the 1911 census and sarah who was on the 1901 census but not 1911, I can't seem to find anything about her. Johns mother was called eliza, im not sure of her maiden name and I can't find out his fathers name as she was already a widow in 1901 age 52.  This is all new to me and any help would be greatly appreciated

For reference, here are the Rountree family in 1901 census-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Armagh/Portadown_Urban/Bridge_Street/1028850

I don't see John with his family in 1911 at the moment but here's mother Eliza with daughter Anna Rebecca-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Armagh/Portadown_Urban/Bridge_Street/299321

Annie Rebecca Rountree married in 1911 after the census-

Possible birth registration (as Rebecca) gives parents as Thomas Charles Rountree & Eliza Steinson-
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FPRB-XG8

If the birth for Rebecca is correct then other children are-
Thomas Charles (1873) https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FGR9-2LD (mother Stimson)
John James (1878) https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FG67-R5Q (mother Stevenson)

Note: Steinson, Stimson, Stevenson are all variations of the same surname.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thank u for your reply.  I came across john rountree in 1911 census under rowntree.  His 2 sons, my fathers uncles are on it as well.  The sister sarah in 1901 census I can't find again or a birth date for her.  I found a birth for mary elizabeth parents thomas roundtree and eliza stevenson 1875 but nothing after that

My great-grandfather was James Reynolds and on his marriage certificate (he was married on 7 May 1903) his father is listed as George Rountree, a Labourer, from Derryloughran, Loughgall.

Does any one have any information on George Rountree?
