« on: Tuesday 09 April 13 20:43 BST (UK) »
Hi,

If anyone is visiting rockingham road cemetery i would like to know if there is a gravestone at my grandmothers grave, I live in Scotland and it would be a waste of time to drive all the way down to find nothing.

The Grave in question is of Margaret Stewart born 1924 , death 24 Nov` 1951
Located at Row 112 Plot 4.

Regards

William

HI again William.

The information you got from the Corby Council, did they mention
anyone else near by.

As Hubby took me to Gretton we went to the Cemetery but could not
find the grave.  :(

One reason being there was no marker rows or grave numbers in the
Cemetery.

I did manage to get a plan from a kind lady in the Old Chapel, but no
burial information is held there as they are a private Funeral Directors.

I worked back from row 95a to what I believed to be row 112 and found
a grave to a Margaret Baxter only on Plot 4.

Therefore if you would like me to ring the office as I have taken nearby graves
I could confirm for you soon if there is a headstone or not.

Unless of course any one else has managed to find it.  :)

Mmmmm something not quite right here.

There is no Margaret Stewart dying in Northants (Kettering R.D.)
in 1951.

There is a Margaret Baxter dying though aged 27.

Hi Sandy Thanks for going to the Cemetery, this is very much appreciated.

The Margaret Baxter Grave is most likely the correct one, as she married James Murray Baxter, I don`t know how it works in England, but in Scotland women are buried with their maiden names, unless James picked the name himself, Margaret Stewart (Baxter) died on the 24th November 1951 and would have been 27 at death, she moved to Corby with James in connection with the Stewarts and Lloyds steel works.

Again i thank you for your help.

Hi William.

Then luckily I took a picture of the correct grave, sadly there are no dates on it.

Having gone all over the cemetery I am glad I found it orignally with in 10 minutes.

I am going to have an early night but will post in morning when I have downloaded
the card of my camera.

Thank goodness for that.
