Hiya
I am looking for some infomation on  Mr Frederick Colston Rank Private  who served in the 33 Brigade RHA. from 1914. He lived Bristol at the time of call up.
Anything about the 33rd's part in the WW1 would be of interest and most helpful.

Lyndsey,

You seem to be mixing things up a bit. Was he in the Royal Field Artillery or Royal Horse Artillery? Was he a gunner or a private? Was his unit part of the 33rd Brigade, or was he part of the 33rd Battery? I know this may sound petty, but it make a big difference and may help if you trying to tack him down.

Hi-ya Rod
Thanks for responding to my post. Your right I have just read back the post I put out, blimey it was a bit confusing wasn't it. Please accept my apologies.
Right then! as far as I know he was in the Royal Horse Artillery.  And in the 33rd Brigade, his rank was Private.
Hoping this might make a difference.
Thanks again

Lyndsey,

Have a look at this site

http://www.regiments.org/regiments/uk/art-eng-sig/raxref.htm

I am still having problems with the words used. Normally a soldier in the Artillery is called a "Gunner". Was he part of another unit attached to this Artillery Brigade? There seems to be an overlap between the RHA and the RFA, but this might have happened on occasions. Check the web site above and you will see what I mean. If all else fails, get in touch with the Royal Artillery Museum.

Good Luck,

Rod
