I have a puzzle, my late grandfather Thomas Stanley b 1897 reg by mother Clara Thompson and father John Stanley.!!  The other children are William Frederick Stanley, Joseph John Stanley, Clara Stanley, all born Cambridge.  The last three reg by Joseph Stanley and Clara i think Collingworth/collingsworth?.
I found Kate Stanley birth Cheltenhan 1905, mother Collingworth  The children are correct.
can anyone let me know which  surnames spelling is correct?

Thank you Lizb, the only birth cert I have is Thomas Stanley, Cambridge Archives did confirm that Thomas, belongs to Joseph Stanley and Clara Collingworth. I think William Frederick Stanley's ancestors think the surname is Cullingworth?
