There is a Ross, Rudbaxton on 1871 census - 2 household schedules. 1 on 1861 and 1 on 1841

I have a copy of a will written in 1819 it said Rofs but that could be a mistake

I doubt it's a mistake. At that time it was common for Ross to be written as Rofs.

the letter that looks like 'f', is actually a long 's', so Roſs.
