Can anyone help please.

Dr Philip McDevitt - (former Bishop of Derry 1766-1797) buried in Fahan ( his birthplace) 1797.

Can anyone help with info of which McDaid/McDevitt family he may be related to in that area. Thank you.

Managed to get more info on this family, but still would appreciate some more help.
Dr Philip McDevitt was born approx 1710 - died 1797 and buried in Upper Fahan(birthplace).  he had two brothers William and John and 4 sisters. His sisters or their children married families Doherty, Houton, Nulty, Green, Carlan. he also had two grandnephews Charles and William O'Donnell of Rushville.  These were the children of his niece Margaret who married Owen O'Donnell ( brother of suceeding Bishop of Derry Charles O'Donnell ).

I am trying to trace any descendants on 1901/11 census , or marriages, emmigration etc. Anything basically that can help me find present day families . Thank you.

I may have information that could help. I'm researching James McDevitt Born: 1775 Cabry, Donegal, Ireland. I believe this is only about 10 miles from Fahan. It is possible that James could be the son of William or John.  If we can find a connection between Dr. Phillip McDevitt and James McDevitt, then I have that line traced back to the present day in the U.S.

I am also researching Bp. Phillip Mc Devitt and have some information on him. I am especially interested in getting the location of his grave. His nephew Charles O’Donnell succeeded him as Bishop of Derry. 1797 to 1823.
