Hi John
as one pensioner to another! think I made a mess of trying to reply to you just now!
Both my parents were in Burma and both had the Burma Star so your Dad would have done too, along with others like the defence medal and the 1939/45 star etc. He may also have had the North Atlantic Star which my father had - he was in the RA and with the 14th Div. my mother was a Red Cross nursing sister and was with a field hospital in Burma - I remember her saying that dysentery accounted for a high percentage of her patients. Do contact the Burma Star Assoc.
Hope that's helped a bit.
Susie

of release it says?a strong, hardworking individual with a good army record3 1/2 years in India&
Burma.. if he was fighting in burma would he be due or awarded a medal?

also what is this ?admitted to 215 fld ambulance on 1.1.44 rejoined b..from hospital 5.1.44
entered convalescencal area 21.1.44 quitted Convalescence 14.5.44 would it be malaria?

                                         thanks john

having looked and looked so many times i am almost sure it says

entered concessional area 21/1/44  quitted concessional area 14/5/44 India

Well done.  Did you father get his medals and then lose them and you just wanted replacements?  I presume he and your mother both survived the war.  One of my sons who lives in USA has my father's medals, but I know another of my sons would like some if possible.
