Thought this might be of interest ~

The website says "Adobe is introducing a subscription model for many of its most popular programs, including Photoshop and Dreamweaver"

It talks about Adobe Creative Suite, which is much more than most people have / use.

It doesn't mention that which most people use -Adobe Acrobat - which is already at Ver 8 or higher.
I didn't think Photoshop had ever been free?

Hi Dawn

I  (and the BBC article) was referring to the Graphic programs/suites as this Board (Resources, Tips and Tutorials) is a child board of the Photo Board.

Adobe  Acrobat reader (still free!)  is a separate product and not really for photos.   It  is already up to XI - well,  it is on my machines!

Photoshop has never been free - no one said it ever was.

Everyone wants to make money out of us, Jim  :-\

Should I stick to CS3 (very happy with and Pels reckons it's all we need)  or go the subscription route to CS6 (Polldoll likes it) and ( I think) Sarah is sticking with CS5  :-\

What have you got?

Thanks for that Gadget, its the way many software companies are heading. Microsoft muted the idea ages ago. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-21247688
The way I see it, a monthly fee for 36 months is about the same price as buying the full package. Most professionals would be looking at updating their software around that time anyway, so infact its a way of buying very expensive software that you perhaps you wouldn't be able to afford otherwise.

I still have CS3 too but my daughter is playing with the latest full creative suite at work. I can't see myself upgrading unless I do more artwork.

I have Creative Suite but CS2-4 is more than enough for what we do.
I think the subscriptions are aimed more at professionals who tend to stick with what they've got & only upgrade when the have to often leapfrogging a couple of releases.
I can see this way being better for them & the software manufacturers which is what it's all about.

I'm staying with adobe photoshop elements 9..it has everything I need and I keep finding new ways to work tools that aren't shown in tutorials,etc.. by experimenting..I'm getting very inventive and creative with tools and I know there's a lot more hidden features to be found..I'm still trying to figure out how to install an FFT filter plugin.. ::)
