Jennie Mayo Hans
« on: Friday 10 May 13 19:00 BST (UK) »
I need help again.

I am looking for any information on Jennie Mayo Hans, supposedly born 25 July 1887 in Crawford, Dawes County, Nebraska.  Her father was Fred Mahon "Lonestar" Hans, a noted scout and self-promoting independent frontier lawman.  She died on 15 December 1970 in San Francisco [name = Jennie M. Urban]. There are numerous family trees on the web that include her but I am having trouble finding any actual paper trail.

She seems to have been a lively young woman - one of the trees has her married four times between 1910 and 1930 but with no details of where the marriages occurred.  These are the alleged husbands and marriage dates:

John Milligan Nicks,  2 December 1910
William Walter Holyfield, 25 February 1920
Asel B. Chapman, 22 August 1928
Anton Urban 1930

My connection to her is by way of husband number three, Asel Benjamin Chapman.  He was born 16 February 1891 in Breckenridge, Caldwell County, Missouri [parents Joseph Chapman and Louisa Waldo].  Asel was briefly married to Mary Rowena Bothwell in 1921 but they were divorced in about 1925.  It is likely that Asel married Jennie in Missouri.  In the 1930 census they were married and living together in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri but, by 1940, Asel was divorced and living alone in San Francisco.  He died in 1981 in San Mateo County, California.

Thanks for throwing another monkey wrench into the mix, Sandra.  I'll start some new searches under the surname 'Mott.'  Mercifully, she seems to have had no children.

Ah, good, that narrows down the date of her divorce from Chapman and her marriage to Urban a bit.  Fortunately, Asel is an uncommon name so it is relatively easy to track him.

1939 Directory gives address 1462 - 25th Ave
1940 census https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/K9DM-VXL gives address 1762 - 25 th Ave

John Milligan Nicks names nearest relative as Alice Nicks on his WW1 Draft in Muscatine, Iowa
12 September 1918.
On the marriage to Alice G Howell in 1916 Iowa, John was described as single.  ???

Not really helping you find any paper trail for Jennie. If this is the correct William W Holyfield born 15 Aug 1873  Death 28 November 1935 (as per the details on anc tree) he was married twice but the second wife (Lillie Mae Semple Holyfield) was with him on the 1920 and 1930 census. William died 1935. The "W" stood for Watson. First wife died 1901 - Eva Lynch born 1875 in Missouri and died abt 1901 in Kansas. William was a Rev William W Holyfield.

There is also a detailed tree for a Hugh F. Mott who looks like a likely candidate to be Hugh Forbes Mott.  But it shows him as never married.

I don't know, Sandra, somehow Jennie managed to keep herself undocumented [did you see the pictures of her and her dad, "Lonestar?"]
