Darfield Cemetery / Locating a plot
« on: Friday 17 May 13 12:34 BST (UK) »
Hello :)

I have received some information through the post today and in it are a few papers about one of my ancestors' burial plot purchase. I know she was buried in Darfield Cemetery and I have her exact plot number, but was wondering if there were any online records, or if there wa a website with the graves transcribed on, from Darfield. She was buried in 1929 by the looks of things, so the grave should still be there shouldn't it?

Thanks
Jay
I am interested in the research lines of:
Marion Morten - Sheffield
Varah Lockwood - Mexborough
Samuel Milner  - Sheffield

Darfield Cemetery is included on the website http://www.cemeteries.org.uk/ [you purchase tokens for online search].

Whilst the grave will still be there it depends how long the Burial Rights were granted by the council. If the Rights have expired and the family chose not to renew them then in some cases the council allows additional burials in the grave which may result in any  original stonework having to be removed. Also remember that in some cases families could not afford a headstone.
