Hi
Very interesting.
The census return for 1911 could be the one that applies to Mortimer.
According to Birth records we have established the year 1849 which would mean that he would have been 62 years for that census......so there is a discrepancy there.
However, the tradition of the time was to name the First son after the Grandfather, that would fit in in this case.
At the moment I don't know the names of any of Mortimer's siblings children, that would help me with the non family members present on the night. The only one perhaps is his brother John who had 2 daughters Mary Teresa and Ellen, plus one son John.
Thanks a million
Anna

The 1901 and 1911 census are for the same Mortimer Fitzgerald.

Oh Lord of course they are.
I was confused with the different versions of the forename, also the fact that they had downsized.!

I guess it could be the Mortimer we have been writing about. His Father Richard and Richard's siblings Matthew, Paddy and Edmond all lived in Abbeystrowny.
I need to investigate further.
Thanks a million
Anna

Catherine Fitzgerald is listed as a sister-in-law and widow so she was probably married to a brother of Mortimer. Quite a large family he had there- and then there's a nephew Mortimer (son of Catherine?)-

Children of Mortimer Fitzgerald (think he was married twice as there are 2 daughters named Bridget):
1.   Mortimer (c1872)
2.   Bridget (c1875)
3.   Richard (1875) mother Betty Donovan- https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F5HR-TSX
4.   Edward (c1879/1881)
5.   Katie (c1880)
6.   Patrick (c1882)
7.   Mary Anne (c1884)
8.   Lizzie (c1885/1886)
9.   Margaret (c1889/1890)
10.   Bridget (c1891)

Also found a Mortimer Anthony Fitzgerald in 1911 English census which might be of interest-

Hi
Oh right so perhaps Catherine was married to John Fitzgerald (15-08-1857).
That is super to have the list of names and birth dates.
I must check out that Mortimer Anthony also...
Thanks a million

Hi there
The Richard we have been writing about was born in 1807.
He died OCT-Dec. 1903.
His siblings were, Edward, John, Paddy and Matthew.
His parents were Murty Mor Fitzgerald and Kate( Dearg) Donovan. I suppose a reference to red hair!
Thank you
Anna

If this is the same Matthew Fitzgerald then there are baptisms for children on same site-
