For what it is worth.  I believe 'aghadowey's' family in 1901 is the correct one!

You must remember that not all the census are 100% accurate, and a little licence with names was far from unusual.  Anna

Yes, I already have her on the 1911 Census Anna.
Are you saying that Richard Gardner Down became Henry G Downs etc? What about the discrepancy in Birth places and occupations?

According to a public tree on Ancestry, he was a strongman going by the name of Ihonart.  Is this the man you are looking for?

None of the people with him in their public tree, have him showing on the 1901 or the 1911 census.

Do you have access to Ancestry?

Yes, I'm on Ancestry and a Guest on Trees with him included so know that no one has found him on 1901 Census so thought I'd try this  ;)

OK.  I will leave you to it.  There is one thing that puzzles me:  Where does the name Sewell come from.  All of his children with his second 'wife' have that surname!

Bizarrely, he assumed the Surname of her Husband. Sure I'll get there in the end, but any help very greatly appreciated still!
