Bumpstead Edgley b.1847, Wickhambrook
« on: Tuesday 28 May 13 20:29 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I am looking for any information on Bumpstead Edgley.  He was born in Wickhambrook in 1847 to William and Ann Edgley.  He had a younger brother William.  I can only find his birth record and then nothing further.  Any information would be very much appreciated!

Thank you!  ;)

Thank you!  This is the only reference I can find (other than his birth record) of Bumpstead.  As far as I can see (so far), there are no obvious death records...  I had hoped that with such an unusual name, it could be an interesting line to follow! :)

William re-married to Mary Dutton in 1854 -  10yr old son William is living with him in 1861 but no Bumpstead.

Personally - if I was given a christian name like Bumpstead, I would want to change it at the earliest opportunity ;D

My thoughts exactly!!  ::)  It could almost be classed as child cruelty...

I guess this is going to be a long, drawn out process... :-\

Seven years on and I'm still none the wiser!  Bumpstead Edgley was my 1st cousin, four times removed.  I've still got no more than his birth record and name on the 1851 census.  If anyone could shed some light, I'd be most grateful!

The GRO do not transcribe it on their online index  ;D

I agree I would also have changed it if it were my name

I definitely would have done! Mind you, I've checked for alternative Edg(e)leys of the right age on the next census and can't find any alternatives.

My last sighting of Bumpstead is at 3 years of age. Cannot find a death record either, unless I'm missing something.
