He was only 14 in 1861 so I would have expected him to be with his father or at least in the Suffolk area.  I can only find a Thomas or John Edgley b  and they are with parents in 1861

Thank you for looking.  He is a complete mystery.  Even if he passed away as a young child, I would have thought there would be some kind of record that would jump out.  So frustrating!

Did Ann have siblings that could have taken him in as there own after she had died

If I've got them all correct, I believe Ann was born to Thomas and Elizabeth Chapman, baptised in 1818 in Stansfield - I can't find another Ann of the right age.  Please do correct me if I'm wrong.
