Terri,

Yes, certainly. What title do you want to change it to?

Great job Trystan!

A summary for those new to this topic:-

I have a copy of a letter from E Boswell who is living at Berth, Llanfairfechan, to the couple who adopted her baby in 1904.  She talks of a mistress, and of the Yeomanry camping nearby.

My questions are:-

1. Was she a domestic servant, and if so, to who (1901 occupants are called Davies, in 1911 they are Owen).?

2. What happened to her after 1904?

3.  Did she come from the Llanfairfechan area, or from Birkenhead where her daughter was born, or maybe Barnton, Cheshire where her daughter went to live?

I have a thread on the Cheshire board http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=648730.0 which has the letter, and all the possible candidates from Cheshire.

I've also put my questions on a Llanfairfechan forum.

Thanks for reading!

You ruled out Margaret Evans the domestic servant but she could be going by a different name .

Example my grandmother.s adopted sister was born in Swansea 1907. Named as Jessie Smith father Herbert Smith mothers maiden name Lottie Bourne

In fact Lottie and Herbert were not married ...(...Bourne was her stage name  she was actually Roberts...)
Jessie's was with her adoptive parents Mr and Mrs Ball near Liverpool in 1911    ...

Mary Ellen could have passed herself off as married ...( To birth father ?)
Good luck with your search .

Thanks brigidmac.

For some reason I'm unable to find the 1901 Census where Margaret Evans is working as a servant, so am unable to look at that at the moment.  Perhaps my eyes need a rest!

did you ever get any further wit this ?

has anyone on the line had DNA tests

Im getting good at finding connections for testees with adoptees on the line .

im hoping some of the 20 placed babies from the court case I investigated would have had letters like this and add creedence to the defence of the The liverpool london couple
that they were helping place babies in good homes and not just trafficking them to highest bidder .

(see stories of the two  babies traced so far Jessie Smith Bourne BALL + Henry Leighton KITCHING) for comparisons

I'm afraid I haven't got any further with this.  My great auntie Lily (the baby referred to in the letter) did not have any children, and her siblings were adopted from different mothers.
