Coroner's Inquest for southern division WAR, 1892
« on: Monday 03 June 13 14:53 BST (UK) »
Arthur Maurice (or Morris) MOORE died on 28th November 1892 at Henley in Arden.

An inquest was held and according to the death certificate it was determined that he committed suicide while temporarily insane.

I wonder whether any further details might be obtained of the inquest, which was held the same day as his death, and whether anyone can tell me how to obtain said details?

Also anything in the local press or burial records - we think he was buried at Preston Bagot, where he farmed.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Kind regards, Arranroots :)

Hi,

The county archives might hold the Coroner's file : I found one from 1902 (London) that had lots of interesting items......handwritten statement from the deceased's sister, list of those called to serve on the jury, report from the doctor.  However my search for one from 1914 (another area of London) was not so good.....just basic reports from 2 local newspapers.

If the file has not survived then the archive staff should be able to tell you which local newspapers would have carried a news item.

Brilliant - thanks, Nanny Jan!

This is a new excursion for me, so I appreciate the help & will try contacting the Archives.

Would still appreciate help if anyone has any other ideas for local resources.

Thanks again

Kind regards, Arranroots :)

Can't add anything that Nanny Jan hasn't said except it was probably recorded in one of the B'ham newspapers which are held at B'ham Library which aren't searchable online & the Library is shut anyway until 3rd. Sept. so not much use to you.
I can tell you his will was probated 3rd. Jan. 1893 to his wife Jane £750 & he was a farmer but you probably knew that already.

Hello Jim

Thanks, I did have the probate record but I wouldn't have known about Birmingham library - you might well have saved me a wasted journey!

Warwickshire might just be a short step away but it's like a whole 'nother country when it comes to researching! :D

Kind regards, Arranroots :)
