Ellis Family of Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant

I am seeking information about the family of Thomas and Margaret Ellis, who lived near Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant. Margaret's maiden name was Edwards and she was born near Llandderfel in 1875. She had an illegitimate son named Robert William Edwards in 1902 before marrying Thomas Ellis about 1905. They became the parents of several children, including Humphrey, Thomas John, Maria, Edward Rees, and Mary Leah. I have the 1911 census for the family but that is all I know about them. I have always heard a story that several of the children died young but I really know nothing else. Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You may know all this already but...

There's a marriage in the Jan-Mar quarter of 1905 on FreeBMD for Thomas Ellis and Margaret Edwards at Llanfyllin. Llanfyllin parish marriage records are on FindMyPast but nothing for Thomas and Margaret. If the Humphrey you mention is the one registered in SepQ 1905, maybe they were married in the register office? The Llanfyllin baptism records on FindMyPast appear to finish in 1874 so no help there either sorry. 

There are lots of 'Ellis' births in Llanfyllin on FreeBMD, including five from SepQ 1911 owards when the mother's maiden name was included... Margaret E (SepQ 1911), Maggie (MarQ 1912), Anne J (JuneQ 1913), Lewis M (JunQ 1914), and Thomas R (MarQ 1917). Presumably Margaret E and Maggie aren't siblings though, so they may not all (or any) belong to Thomas and Margaret.

Maggie (Mar Q 1912) died the same quarter.

Before 1912, there's an Ernest Ellis born and died in JunQ 1908.

as you have the 1911 census, you can check on it how many children had been born to the couple and how many were still living. That info should be in the wife's entry line.

Given the 1905 marriage and the number of children you have found, there isn't much space for many to have died young.

All 5 born before the 1911 census were still alive, which rules out Ernest, but Maggie (1912) might be one who died young.
