Austin marriage certificates
« on: Friday 07 June 13 13:49 BST (UK) »
Hi looking for marriage records for the following Austin members.
William Reginald Hessett Austin married Ellen Elizabeth Osborn Evans on the 1/12/1937 but not sure where.
James Arnold Austin married Elizabeth Mary Pope I suspect about 1941 somewhere in Natal. First child was born in 1942.
Father was married at St Pauls Anglican in Durban in 1906.
Perhaps someone has the Austin marriages on a LSDS microfiche or marriage CD!!!

Regards Derek

Hi
I have found William Reginald's marriage on familysearch under Natal Civil marriages.  No luck for James' though.

Hi

I'm interested in William Reginald Austin since I'm a relative of his wife Ellen Osborn Evans. She was born in London, raised in Bulawayo and Wales, then abroad again to South Africa. William visited Ellen's paternal family in Wales at least once before their marriage in 1937. I know nothing about them afterwards, so any information would be appreciated.

Hi Eilerjones welcome to Rootschat. You need to make 3 posts before we can communicate via personal messages. Reginald was my fathers brother. He lived in Cape Town and we lived in Durban. He eventually was in charge of Union Castle shipping and so he and Ellen would travel by ship from Cape Town to Durban. They never had any children and both died within 3 months of each other in 1977. I was surprised to see Ellen lived in Bulawayo. I look forward to your reply.

Hi here is the death notice for Ellen. I see she was born in New Zealand and died in a hospital while her husband was working in Bulawayo. Ellen and David married in Wynberg Cape Province.

Many thanks for this. The narrative in my family was that Ellen Maud had died in Bulawayo but clearly not. Great to get much more detail of her family, and in New Zealand as well. PM sent.
