Barnwell Marriage in 1834
« on: Thursday 13 June 13 19:48 BST (UK) »
Is anyone able to provide any extra information on the marriage of Mary Ann Butler and Frederick Parkes in Barnwell in 1834?

I'm trying to ascertain whether or not this Mary Ann Butler might be the one born in Fen Ditton in 1815 to Samuel Butler and Hannah Benson.

TIA!

Looks like you are probably on the right track as I see Mary Ann had a sister Jemima and when Jemima married William Eley in 1848 at Horningsea one of the witnesses was John Darnell.

Thanks Selina!  Yes, Mary Ann had a sister called Jemima.  She also gave her first child the middle name Jemima too, so it looks like a hit.  There was another Mary Ann Butler who married Robert Unwin in 1835 in Fen Ditton, where the Butlers were from, so there was a bit of confusion among some Butler trees on the internet.
