Hi and welcome

Have you posted on the Midlothian board in error or is there some connection to that county?

Is this Agnes - born 1803

She had quite a number of siblings - follow the instructions below for their details

Hi shebalee,

As CaroleW suggested, this may get a better response in Kirkcudbrightshire than Midlothian, if it turns out more history in Midlothian, it can be moved again.

Tom
Scotland - Buchanan, Thomson, Pat(t)erson, Stewart, Ritchie, Tracey
Ireland - Tracey, Conroy, Pat(t)erson.

I believe that this inscription from Girthon Old Kirkyard relates to your Mary Davitts & John MacWilliam. No mention of Agnes
Inscription 146 :
Elizabeth Davitts wife of James Davitts died 23 October 1776 aged 40. James Davitts, husband of Elizabeth, died in Gatehouse on 8 January 1806 aged 72. Captain John Davitts, 42nd Royal Highland Regiment, and son of James Davitts, died 5 July 1805 aged 34 years. Mary Davitts daughter of James Davitts and wife of John MacWilliam, died in Belfast 8 April 1808 aged 41 years. Mary MacWilliam, daughter of John MacWilliam died 27 May 1817 aged 31 years. Thomas James MacWilliam son of John MacWilliam died 29 January 1809 aged 8 months.

If you use this link there is a photo of the stone (Table stone)

http://www.kirkyards.co.uk

In the book of Pre 1855 MI's for the same inscription, there is a note from the editor which states James Davitts who died 1806 was  "the manager of the Tannery, later bought it & realised a small fortune".
Hope this helps.
