A possibility for Joseph on the 1901 census -

Joseph Green 39 b. Wordsley, Worcestershire. Boatman, Barge.
Ann Green wife 37 b. Branton
Elizabeth Green dau  b. Wordsley, Worcestershire

Boat-Gertrude, Lapley

Emma Green head 14 b. Wolverhampton, Staffordshire
Eliza Green   sister 11 b. Ellesmere Port, Lancashire
Maria Green sister 7 b. West Bromwich, Staffordshire
Mary Green sister 4 b. Brierly Hill, Staffordshire

Joseph, Ann and Elizabeth are on one boat and then it would appear that their other children are on the next boat.

To clarify all the information you have been given it would be advisable to purchase appropriate birth/marriage certificates. There is nothing worse than following a line to find it's wrong.
